The threesome of posters designed by Bart de Baets aim to resemble broken light boxes that display rotating posters. On the occasion this happens the paper posters crumble up getting jam-stuck; a visual display which is both violent looking as clumsy and it is elegant. Through the creases the tubelights and mechanics of the poster carriers become visible. In a similar way De Baets created this series through which a background becomes visible revealing his inspirations. One gets access to his way of seeing and can get a glimpse on how some of his designs and compositions are made, or what inspired them.
“It’s A Sign '' is a poster about graphic symbols, like logos, punctuation and tags. There’s an image on it of a scene at Schiphol Airport where the infrastructure is dominated by lines and signs and grids, boycotting its own purpose of giving clear directions. It’s a fast-looking and elegant poster, probably because the use of its colour it refers to lipsticks.
