With the reopening of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam on September 23, in addition to a spectacular new building, a new house style will also be put into use. The Style of the Stedelijk is the fascinating account of the Stedelijk Museum’s unique relationship with graphic design and the search for a new visual identity. In the documentary and the book, filmmaker Lex Reitsma and design historian Frederike Huygen shed light on the long search for a new house style. The various participating designers and their proposals are shown, as well as the Mevis & Van Deursen house style concept developed under the current director Ann Goldstein. In addition, the fascinating history of the museum and its unique relationship with graphic design are discussed.
