The exhibition ‘An Alphabet of Cases’ is conceived to bring about this narrative of The Palace of Typographic Masonry in all its facets: from its collections to its forms of expression and from its collaborations to its agenda. The exhibition was on display for the first time at the 600m2 ‘hangar’ of Toolbox Coworking during Graphic Days in Turin and is ready for future travel and settlement in various locations.
The travelling exhibition, developed in partnership with Graphic Matters, consists of 26 large unfolding drawers that represent 26 spaces of the (imagined) building, providing insight to the expanding project. The exhibition tells the story of a multitude of aspects of graphic design and the role this craft plays in our social communities.
The lineup of ‘An Alphabet of Cases’ includes over 150 collected works on display and more than 25 commissioned contributions from various graphic designers reflecting on a wide variety of aspects of their profession. Together with the compositions of 600 so called ‘index cards’ that depict and describe all collected items of The Palace of Typographic Masonry, the works on display and the designers’ contributions form an intriguing, spatial and multi-layered narrative.
